About Mobile.Clinic

What is Mobile.Clinic?

Mobile.Clinic puts a clinic on wheels and brings it to the community. The first unit we announced, in 2021, was built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van chassis with medical-grade equipment.

Doctors and nurses made house calls when your grandma needed to be seen. We take yesterday's house call and update it into a repeatable experience patients truly love.

Think of a bucket truck heading down the road. You know it is going to fix something. We want a Mobile.Clinic on the side of a van to read the same way. That is what we mean by bringing back healthier hometowns.

Why rural and semi-rural places?

A mobile clinic fits best in rural and semi-rural places. Big city cores already have many clinics and hospitals close together, so that is not where we start.

Why join a program instead of running a mobile clinic on my own?

Mobile care has mostly been run from the top down, by a hospital or a nonprofit system. Owning a fleet yourself comes with risk and frustration.

Mobile.Clinic is built to ease that. The program takes the weight of the fleet off your plate, so you can spend your time on patients and on the community.

Who can run a program

Who can run a Mobile.Clinic program?

We hear from several kinds of people and groups:

A nurse practitioner or other clinician. A nurse practitioner is the person we most expect to hear from.

An entrepreneur who wants to make a difference in their community.

A nonprofit or shelter.

A hospital or health system.

An existing mobile program that needs support.

This is not a test, and it does not tell you whether you qualify. Who can own or run a program depends on your state and on how the program is set up. The details come with the program's disclosure documents. The Start Your Program form asks a few questions so the right person can talk with you. Your answers do not decide whether you can open a unit, and this page cannot decide that either.

Do I need to be a clinician?

It depends on your state and on how the unit is set up. Some states limit who may own a medical practice, and the rules differ from state to state.

We will not tell you on a web page that you do or do not need a license. Tell us who you are on the form, and we will talk through your state with you. How a program is set up is spelled out in its disclosure documents.

Can a nurse practitioner in Kentucky run a Mobile.Clinic program?

Kentucky nurse practitioners can lead a practice, with a physician agreement for prescribing in the first years.

Other states set their own rules for nurse practitioners, and the rules differ. Who may own the business that runs a unit is a separate question, and it also depends on the state.

We cannot tell you here whether you qualify. The form helps us set up a real conversation about your state.

Can a nonprofit, a shelter or a hospital run a program?

Groups like these are welcome to ask. Whether one can run a program depends on the state, on the licenses it already holds, and on how the program is set up. We will work through it with you. How a program is structured is spelled out in its disclosure documents.

If your organization already provides care under its own license, say so on the form.

What does Mobile.Clinic do for the person who runs a program?

The program is built to take the risk and frustration of owning a fleet off your plate. In 2021, Kevin McCarron described our service as handling vehicle management, driver logistics and equipment maintenance.

What a franchisee receives, in training, support and systems, is set out in the program's disclosure documents. We do not summarize it here, because those documents are what counts.

How does a territory work?

A territory is a named area made of nearby towns. Richmond-Berea, Kentucky is one. It is Secured, which means it is already spoken for. The ten territories are listed on the Start Your Program page.

Where the lines fall, and what a territory means for a franchisee, are set out in the program's disclosure documents. We do not describe territory rights on this website.

Is Mobile.Clinic available where I live?

Tell us where you are. The form asks for your state and your nearest town, and we will tell you where that area stands.

Some states require a franchise to be registered before it can be offered there. So we may not be able to talk about a franchise in your state yet. We will tell you plainly.

Cost and next steps

Is a franchise for sale today?

Start with the form. A franchise can be offered only where the law allows, and only through the disclosure documents the law requires. No one signs or pays anything before receiving them.

You can still tell us you are interested. That is not a commitment.

What does it cost?

The fees and the cost of starting a program are set out in the program's disclosure documents. We do not publish numbers on this website, because any number has to match those documents.

A candidate receives them before any decision.

How much can I earn?

This website makes no earnings claims. Any figures about earnings belong in the disclosure documents the law requires, where they must be written down and backed up.

What happens after I submit the form?

You will see a confirmation page with a one-page handout on the program to keep. Then we read what you wrote and reach out by phone or email to set up a first conversation. It is a conversation. You do not commit to anything by having it.

Do I need a license or permit to run a mobile clinic?

Rules differ by state and by the services a unit offers. We will not tell you that a license or permit is handled for you, because that depends on where you are and how your unit is set up.

Ask us about your state, and talk with your own legal advisor too.

Existing programs and health systems

We already have a mobile clinic. Can Mobile.Clinic help?

Running a mobile clinic is hard work. The unit can cost a lot to keep up. A program may not have someone to build relationships in the community, or someone to drive the vehicle. Public guidance for rural mobile health programs says they need a plan for their resources, staff and partnerships.

If that sounds familiar, we want to hear from you. Mobile.Clinic can coach and guide, and add tools and resources to make your program more effective.

Tell us what is going on through the existing-clinic form.

We are a hospital or health system. How would a mobile unit fit?

Hospitals publish community health plans: a hospital's public plan for the needs it found in its own community. A mobile unit can be one way to act on that plan.

If your plan names a need a unit could meet, tell us which one. Use the form that fits, or write to hello@mobile.clinic.
